Today, Gov. Seyi Makinde inaugurated the project monitoring committee for the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) in Oyo State.
RAAMP is a Federal Government-sponsored project under the World Bank and other donor agencies. It requires interested states to pay a 12 percent counterpart fund of the project value, which will cater for the construction and rehabilitation of up to 1,000 kilometers of rural and farm roads. The project aims to assist in expanding the state’s economy over a seven-year project lifecycle.
This rural-based project is envisioned to facilitate rapid rural development and agro-logistics infrastructure, resulting in social and economic growth.
During the inauguration of the monitoring committee and the relaunching of RAAMP, Gov. Seyi Makinde, who also serves as the chairman of the committee, stated that the counterpart fund was provided within three months of his administration to get the project back on track.
He added that the committee will ensure that all projects initiated under RAAMP will be of high quality and able to stand the test of time.
